G10 Irons
2/24/2008
Handicap 0 - 5
I decided on the G10s as I don't get to play as much as I used to play. These irons are very forgiving and easy to hit. They launch the ball at a higher trajectory and the feel when the ball comes off the club is solid. I got the 3-PW and now I am going to order two wedges to complete the set. Get fitted for these and you won't be sorry you purchased these irons!

Thank you for your question. Your height and arm length put you in the Purple color code which is 1.5 degrees flat.
Is it possible to order these in 3/4" long shaft with oversize grips? If so, how much extra if any in cost?
A
08/13/2009 4:25 PMGolfballs.com Employee: Andy
Yes, please call in your order for custom shaft length at 1-800-372-2557. Ping does not charge extra for custom orders and there is a stock Ping oversize grip that I can have installed at no added cost.
In regards to looking for longer shafts and lengthened club, i just ordered a custum set of G10's (seriously 1 month ago) with a 1" extention and oversized grips and have played 3 rounds of golf with them. Great clubs but i want to get the new G15's. I am wanting to sell these clubs before i buy the others so if you want a great deal on some basically brand new clubs, you can email me at kendallmolz04@hotmail.com and we can work out a deal. I also have a matching hoofer bag to go with it
My height is 5 ft. 10 and my wrist to floor actually is 33". Does that mean I need the Red Dot in the G10 irons??
A
08/04/2009 9:22 AMGolfballs.com Employee: Andy
Tim, yes if that measurement is accurate the red color code should fit you. The standard length iron set generally fits players from 5'7" to 6'1" so you shouldnt need to have the irons extended. Please call me at 1-800-372-2557 if you have ordering questions and I will be glad to help. Thanks, Andy.
I am 5 10 1/2. It looks like close to me wrist to floor length is 30"
What color dot of G10 irons should I get?
A
07/31/2009 9:30 AMGolfballs.com Employee: Andy
Tim, if your arm measurements are accurate the PING color code you would fit is gold dot. Your height brings you near standard length so you shouldnt need to have the shafts extended.
I'm looking at buying a new set of clubs. Never really paid attention to shaft length or lie. How do I figure these variables. Like is my wrist to floor measurement with shoes on? where on the wrist?

Thank you for your question. To start, how tall are you? The wrist to floor measurement needs to be taken with shoes and your palm facing forward while hanging directly to your side while you stand upright. You will measure from the base of your wrist to the floor. This will categorize you into a color code with Ping's fitting system giving us an excellent idea of how your clubs need to be built to suit you.
I'm 5'8", wrist to floor is 34", I'm trying to decide what color dot to get for Ping G10's. What do you recommend?
Thanks for all the help.

Thanks for your question. The Ping color system has you at the black dot color code. For most iron sets, you should be just fine with standard length and standard lie.
I am a beginner golfer, 50 yrs. old. I am 5'7" tall. Could you reccomend a good forgiving iron set. At my height would I need to get them shortened

07/28/2009 5:06 PMGolfballs.com Employee: Andy
Your height does not require the shafts to be shortened at all. The Ping G10 iron is one of the better affordable game improvement iron sets on the market. For your skill level, this iron set will make the game seem easy.
I am a 50 yr. old male in dire need of a new set of irons, and I am interested in the G10's. I am 6'2" tall, wrist to floor is 37", and hand size is 8". I hit a 7 iron 145 to 150 yrds

Chuck according to Ping's color system white dot is your code and I would have them extended to 1/2" over standard length to accomodate your height. The Ping color system is a preset custom fitting system that is color coded to help you identify yourself in their fitting scheme. Every manufacturer will customize your irons by bending to a specific degree upright or flat. Ping, groups the fittings into colors to make it easier on the consumer.
i am trying to decide whether i should get graphite or steel shafts. I know that graphite is more expensive and i am wondering what the difference is. i am 17 and i shoot around an 87 to 90. what is t

Good question. Graphite iron shafts are going to be better for vibration reduction and enhanced club head speed however, the torque rating is higher than steel therefore your shot dispersion will be higher with graphite on mishits decreasing your odds of hitting more greens. If you want more accuracy, go with steel and at your age, there is no reason to swing a graphite shafted iron set.
I am 6'1" and weigh 215. I have been playing for over 40 years and I'm a 16 hdp. I'm 73 years old. What shaft and Lie would you suggest on the G10"s.I only want the irons now. Thanks,Roger

Roger, more often than not guys in your height range will vary (depending on arm length) anywhere from a 1/4" to a 1/2" extended length shaft with a lie angle of 2 degrees upright. You should be able to swing the regular flex shaft just fine given your build.
what does the green dot mean on the ping g10? thanks
A
06/12/2009 11:49 AMGolfballs.com Employee: Andy
Thank you for your inquiry regarding the Ping G10 irons. When club is built to a green dot lie that means the lie angle is adjusted 2 degrees upright from the standard lie angle.
I keep reading about length of shaft, measuring wrist to floor, I am short, so what does this measurement tell me and how do I apply it to shaft length
A
06/03/2009 10:21 AMGolfballs.com Employee: Andy
Thank you for your question in regard to shaft lengths. The measurement from wrist to floor will determine which length you will need your shaft set at. Typically, shorter golfer will need their irons/woods cut down in order to maximize proper impact. Please determine the length of your arm from wrist to floor from a standing upright position with your arms at your side and I can determine the optimal length for you.

Also your wrist to floor measurement will determine what lie angle you need. I'm 5'3" and I needed my clubs flattened 3 degrees from standard! Look into it!
I am a average golfer looking for new clubs...current set had extra inch added to shaft length, but not sure I needed it. I am 6'2"...would a custom club fitting be recommended or would std shaf

Thank you for your inquiry. Typically guys your height will need added length to the shaft with an upright lie angle. Your arm length from wrist to floor will give a better idea as to how much additional length is needed. The majority of golfers in your height range would benefit from a 1/2" extended shaft and a 2 degree upright lie angle. The custom iron set will definately improve your ball striking ability and your consistency in your iron play. Please give us a call if you have further quest

I have old clubs looking to buy new how do I tell if my clubs are to long or short.
I hit a set of ping g10's and wanted to make a purchase of them. Now I am looking online and see that there are diff. dot collors. I dont know what color I hit. Can you explain to me what the color

04/13/2009 4:38 PMGolfballs.com Employee: Andy
Thank you for your question regarding the PING G10 iron set. The color code determines what fit the iron set is built to. Black dot is standard which you will see most often. The color you need is to be determined mainly by your height and the length of your arms. Each color code stands for a lie angle adjustment that is determined by those 2 factors. For a web fitting, please feel free to contact me at 1-800-372-2557. Andy
I need a longer shaft as I am 6' 8". I've checked out some of the configurations on the ping site. Is there a cost impact to get the longer shafts?
A
03/20/2009 9:55 AMGolfballs.com Employee: Andy
Thank you for your inquiry. As a matter of fact Ping does not charge additional amounts to build a custom set of their irons. At 6'8" depending on your arm length, you may need and inch and a half extended shaft.
