Ben Hogan Apex Tour Red - Golf Balls user reviews
Apex Red - Straight and True 8/14/2004
Handicap 10 - 15
This ball has nice feel coming off the club and is very straight on all shots. Distance is very good. Very nice to putt with also. Comparable to original Pro V1 in performance. I have had little trouble with scuffing, very durable for the most part.

OH...MY...GOD! 5/21/2004
Handicap 10 - 15
"I've added 40 yards to my drives by using Apex Tour Red. It has unbelievable control off of my irons and I've had to take one less club on my approach shots than before. You've got to try this ball if you're over 50."
Gene (Dallas, TX)
Better than Pro V1 for Certain Player Type 5/3/2004
Handicap 0 - 5
I liked the Pro V1 when I first played it, but found I was getting too much spin on both shots into the green (I play with Ping Z-2's) and too much side spin on tee shots (this speaks to my fade swing). I love the Hogan Apex Tour Red because it seems to be straighter off the tee and does not back up as much on shots to the green.

The talk is about club head speed; high, moderate and low. Just where does one go to determine club head speed and does this only apply to drivers?

Thank you for your inquiry. Club head speed is mainly mentioned when speaking of driving the golf ball. High club head speeds are 100 MHP+, moderate 85-99, and low would be considered below 85 MPH. Head speed will always be considered when determining shaft flex and usually ball selection. It is always great to be aware of your club head speed.

Jerry, the shelf life of the golf balls if stored in a climate controlled area is non existent. The balls will perform to the standards they were produced at the time. If you are playing an older golf ball you may notice differences from performance of newer balls but that is due to advances in technology not because the ball is "dead". Only storing balls out doors or in non controllable climates will you notice the balls only last around 2 years in most cases.

A golf ball takes between 100 and 1000 years to decompose. If a golf ball is not old and battered through play, it will be fine!!! http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/earthnews/6540852/Golf-balls-take-1000-years-to-decompose.html

Is ID-Align aligned along 1) the center of balance, 2) the seam of two part cover, or 3) just a few dots on either side of initials?
A
05/04/2009 3:09 PMGolfballs.com Employee: Andy
Thank you for your question. The IDAlign service is centered in accordance to the logo of the manufacturer, in many cases the balls we print on are seamless. The are 6 different Golfballs.com ID-Align selections to choose from including arrows, lines, dots, or stars. For additional inquiries, please contact us at 1-800-372-2557. Thanks, Andy

Golf balls stored in a controlled climate, (not outside in the elements, not stored in a 100 degree temperature,)will lose ONE YARD per year. That means, obviously, if you store your golf balls for ten years they will lose only ten yards of carry. Most of us could never tell the difference until it reaches that ten year mark.
